Blog Post #10: Growth

1. Which event that you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why?

The most interesting event that we learned about was the Edict of Milan. The Edict of Milan is an agreement that was signed in 313 AD. It granted everyone religious freedom in the Roman Empire. This is interesting because, with the help of Constantine, the Roman empire was granted the right to worship their own idols/ God. Before the Edict of Milan, they were forced into a strict religious constraint. The persecution of Christians was put to an end.

2. Which person whom you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why?

Pope Francis is the most interesting person we learned about because he was so inspirational. He has his own ideas of how the Church should be led. He believes in the equality of those around us and how everyone belongs. The pope focuses on the Earth and the importance of saving energy. We need to work together to be kind and loving to one another and our "common home". He is inspirational because he represents the love we should have for everyone around us. This is a picture of Pope Francis which shows him after talking to the people and preaching.

3. If you end up being known as an influential figure in history, what do you want to be remembered for?

If I ended up as a known influential figure in history, I would want to be known for my personality. I would want people to know me as a good person and always reliable. The way we treat others is extremely important and gives insight to who we are. When we talk negatively about others, it reflects our self- worth. I want to be known as a good person that was there for everyone. Accepting others and always listening to others is one way of accomplishing this.

4. How have you personally experienced growth (either mentally, emotionally or spiritually) after your own challenges in life?

I have experienced mental growth in my life. In the past two years, I have learned many things about myself and the people around me. Some of the lessons I have learned are to always be kind and patient. We should all be kind to one another behind each others backs because it only causes hurt feelings. This has caused me to grow because now I am aware of who I am and how I impact others. Being ourselves is extremely important and how we make others feel is even more important.
