Blog Post #5: Parables
Blog Post #5: Parables
1. What specific things did you learn from your group's parable?
My parable was the Prodigal Son. I learned many things from the parable. One thing I learned is that God is always forgiving and always here for us. No matter how far we stray from God, we are always welcomed back with open arms. If we are genuinely sorry for our sins and make that known, we will always have a place in the kingdom of God. This picture is of the parable. The son has returned back to the father after he left the family.
2. What specific things did you learn from the parables that were presented by the other groups?
I learned many things from the parables that were presented. In the parable of the sower, I came to realize that your choices really do impact your future. Even the little decisions like who you befriend and what you wear can effect who you become. The laborers in the vineyard shows me that no matter how late in your life you turn to God, he will always be accepting. He loves us all equally. We should always turn to God. I learned about forgiveness and faith from all of the parables.
3. Which moral/lesson impacted you the most and why?
The lesson that impacted me the most was the lesson from the parables of the sower. The lesson from that story was that all of your choice effect your future. This is something that kids my age need to hear. The little things like cheating and being mean effect who you will be in the future. Big things like doing drugs and drinking alcohol also effect your character. The thing we do at our age have a huge effect on our future and what we end up doing. We should be focusing on school and being kind to one another but some only focus on their social status and unimportant things. How cool you were in middle and high school will not matter in the future. Being a good person with good morals matters. The parable of the Sower is what made me start thinking of this.
4.What do you think it would be like if Jesus were in our society today?
If Jesus was part of our society today, I feel like history would repeat themselves. There would be a group of people that would believe in his teachings and a group that doesn't. There would be chaos and riots. The world would go crazy for a while but eventually order would be restored. When humans don't understand something, They tend to try and destroy it. I think people would try and destroy the thought of Jesus and what he stands for. As they did in the past, there would be a lot of fear. I think that if Jesus was part of our society today, there would be chaos for a while and then eventually there would be peace.
