Blog Post #7: Discipleship

• What did you learn about the original disciples from the group projects?
  
  

I learned a lot about the disciples from the group projects. I learned that after Jesus' death, all of the disciples moved from place to place to spread the word of God. They all worshiped Jesus after death and dropped everything they did just to follow him. Most of the disciples died for their love in Jesus and their faith. They wanted to spread the word of God and would do anything to do it. I learned that the original disciples were devoted and the length they went to to inspire others.

• Which disciple did you find most interesting and why?

I found the disciple, Bartholomew, the most interesting. I found him interesting because he died in such a cruel way. He was a martyr and was so devoted to God that we was tortured and died. He was whipped, skinned, and beheaded. Bartholomew was a farmer before he was introduced to Jesus by Philip. He was skeptical at first but when he listened to Jesus' teachings, he was convinced that he was the son of God. He was so strong and devoted that he prayed 100x each day and night. The picture I chose relates because it is a picture of Bartholomew before he was skinned and it shows his devotion.

• Based on what you learned, what are the characteristics of people who follow Christ?
  
  

People who follow Christ can come from many different backgrounds. They were all normal

people who decided to dedicate their life to Christ. They were extremely faithful and decided that

they wanted to live a life of faith. They came from many different backgrounds and worked normal

jobs. They probably weren't even the nicest people in their community but God saw potential in them

and decided to recruit them. They must have been strong people if they were able to spread

the word of God even though a lot of people would have hated them for it.

• Do you feel that you display any of these characteristics? Why or why not?
  
  

I display some characteristics of the disciples. I am a strong person and I can be very dedicated to

doing things I am interested in. Sometimes I might be a little too dedicated. I don't think I am strong

enough to take all the hate that the disciples took. I am similar to the disciples because I take chances.

I do things that i know might not work. I love with all my heart and I support others.
