Blog Post #4: Prayer

1. What are new things that you learned about prayer from this unit? Be specific.
This unit I learned many things about prayer. One thing that I learned about prayer is that there are many different forms. Prayer doesn't have to be in formal format. Prayer can be through song, meditation, and listening to the gospel. Prayer could just simply be done when you talk to God. When you sing and meditate you are connecting to God. You are strengthening your relationship with Christ.

2. Can you see yourself implementing any new prayer practices?
The only way I have ever prayed is through formal prayer and just taking to God. I want to start using meditation and just talking to God more. I have lost a lot of my connection with God just because I don't always remember to talk to him. I was a lot closer with God throughout my childhood and want to use a different form of prayer to maybe make it easier to talk to God. I want to find time in my day to meditate and just reflect on my actions. Maybe talking to God on a daily basis will help me grow closer to him again. The picture below is of a woman mediating. This is one way that I could grow closer to God.

3. What were the main messages you got from the movie The Case for Christ?
I believe that the main message of The Case for Christ was that you should follow your heart and never give up on what you believe in. Leslie never lost faith, even when her husband was pushing her away because of it. She devoted herself to God and read the Bible daily. She let out her feelings while talking to her friend that was a devoted Christian. Leslie put God in her life and didn't let any one tell her she was wrong. She knew her husband would have a change of heart and stop being so skeptical. The main message of the story is to keep your faith and always believe in your heart.

4. What new things did you take away about yourself from this unit, perhaps from Lectio Divina, the Gratitude class, the meditation, or the movie?
I learned many things this unit. I learned that there are many forms of prayer and I learned that most written prayers are written in a format. I learned many things through meditation and that I can connect with God and myself. Meditation gives me the chance to reflect on my actions and the things I say. It also gives me a chance to think about the person I am becoming. Meditation also allows me to talk to God and ask him to help me become a better person. I also learned that I am grateful for many things. I have some really awesome friends and my family is the most supportive and loving group of people. I am also offered many great opportunities that not many people are able to get.
